Making the bed is not difficult, but making it look good is an art. Here are four tips on how to arrange pillows in bed to get your morning off to a good start.
Your decorative pillows, often with fancier pillowcases, are the ones that will often determine whether your bed is nicely made or mediocre.
Such cushions often come in many shapes and sizes, and this is exactly what you should use to your advantage.
Minimalism
Scandinavian design often embraces clean and minimal solutions. If you like this style, try stacking your sleeping cushions and placing your more decorative cushions in front of them.
For these cushions it is ideal to use quilted cushion covers because the pattern tends to create a contrast with your sleeping pillows.
Traditional arrangement
If you prefer a more classic design, try placing the cushions in order of size. Place the largest cushions at the back with a small gap in between.
On the next row, place cushions of a similar size but with no spaces between them. Finally, on the first row, place your particularly nice cushions, preferably those with a pattern.
Romantic style
Should your bed lack a bed frame without a visible back, this arrangement is perfect for you. You may need many pillows and two larger ones at the back.
Feel free to place the cushions in the centre section with a little space between them to fill out the arrangement.
The maximiser's choice
This variant is suitable for king-size beds where the cushions just have to look great. Start the row with three classic pillows, let your sleeping pillows be the centre section and let the decorative pillows be at the front.
If you want to create a luxurious feeling in the arrangement, you can wood over the linen cushion cover on your jewellery covers as these tend to be perfect for more exclusive environments.
